"I know just how you feel..."

Wagging small finger at the screen, Lestat's return after having been bled and burnt to near-destruction, had left the cinematic revenant looking, in a word, like shit. 'Interview With The Vampire' might be fictitious, but at least one legitimate member of the undead could relate.

Oh boy, could she relate...

It had taken Katherine this long, just to recover from her most extensive injuries. Accelerated healing could be useful, providing there were no nasty pieces of shrapnel lodged inside your body - especially around bones. Vampires, as a rule, were terribly flammable, but if old enough, they could hold out against them for at least a little while. After that, though, it took a while for the burns to properly heal.

By the time she had recovered from Kris' improvised explosive surprise, the Slayer's former captor had looked a sight, to say the least - and felt even worse. She had got hit before, but that had been a while ago and this time had almost given her proof as to whether or not her kind could heal from partial blindness.

Yes, it could have been worse.

No, she did not want a lesson in precisely how much.

The force of it had propelled her against something Katherine discovered to be a metal bar poking straight through her abdomen, jamming her in place like some crucified howling banshee. Spine had twisted beyond its natural limits and one leg refused to allow weight to be put upon it.

But she had survived. Recovered. Renewed herself through pain, but renewed herself, nonetheless. Sure, last night's therapy had cost the local college a couple of students, but an Adam's apple a day kept the reaper away.

Flexing the fingers of recovering hand, Katherine peeled off the bandage. When last she had looked, one could see right through to the white of bone. Now, muscle and soft tissue had largely regrown, now in the process of getting covered by skin.

After upsets like these, Katherine sometimes had a mind to go somewhere a good deal more quiet. Like the Middle East.

Then again, where would her world be without alcohol? A lot like one without Slayers, probably.

Tedious.
